The Arab Women’s Committee of the Bahraini Women’s Union held its first meeting on Wednesday, January 21, at the headquarters of the Bahrain Women Union. Chaired by Dr. Sumaya Al-Jowder, and in the presence of members Professor Fawzia Rabia, Professor Wahiba Abdulrahman Al-Farsi, Professor Zahra Ashkanani, and Engineer Amira Al-Hassan, this was within the framework of launching the work of the committee and discussing its future directions within a common Arab vision.
The meeting formed a foundational step in establishing the general framework for the work of the committee, where ideas and visions were exchanged regarding the nature of the role it plays, and the importance of joint Arab action on women’s issues, reflecting the diversity of experiences and expertise, and establishing a clear institutional path based on integration and cooperation.
The meeting also addressed the formulation of the committee's vision, mission, and general objectives, ensuring clarity of direction and sustainability of work, and enhancing the presence of Arab women as active partners in development and community work.It was emphasized that the next phase will involve introductory visits, expanding the committee’s presence, and introducing its roles to relevant parties, which will contribute to developing the role of Arab women and benefiting from successful experiences in various Arab countries.
The members discussed the importance of documenting pioneering Arab experiences and highlighting the achievements of Arab women in various fields, which enhances the exchange of expertise and contributes to building effective bridges of cooperation between Arab women's institutions.
In confirmation of the committee’s aspiration to be a comprehensive intellectual and developmental platform that addresses women’s issues with awareness and depth, and works to transform ideas into practical paths with a sustainable impact, in line with the mission of the Bahrain Women Union and its role in supporting institutional women’s work locally and in the Arab world.
